Compost Bins for Sale
You can get a kitchen top compost bin for $5 to start diverting food waste. To make your own compost at home, you can also buy an Earth Machine outdoor composter for $50.
Sales are by appointment only, limited on Wednesdays. To schedule an appointment, please call (919) 968-2788 or email: recycling@orangecountync.gov. Exact change is required, payable with cash, check or money order. Face mask and safety rules required.
Compost Demo Sites
To learn more about outdoor composting, check back on OCSWM for a live demo and classes at the two outdoor composting demo sites located in Orange County (currently unavailable due to COVID).
The GoCompost App is a practical tool developed by a team of local student volunteers to make it easy to get started with composting and access resources for Orange County residents. This free app is available on both the App Store and the Google Play Store.
Aiming to help engage the Orange County residents in composting with knowledge and a sense of community, the App combines four main features: Check, Map, Impact & Community to empower users to start composting and contribute to a greener community.
